With the rising COVID cases in Des Moines and Iowa we want to keep our staff, volunteers, and customers safe. Starting November 11, we are updating our policy by requiring masks at our metro stores. The Polk County Health Department issued this recent statement:
We want to do our part in the fight against COVID while making sure that you can still enjoy thrifting with us. Here is a reminder of our store policy:
- Masks are required to be worn at all times
- Parents may bring children, but they must be supervised at all times
- Children 2 and under are not required to wear masks
- Follow directional arrows in aisles
- Staff will sanitize carts and surfaces regularly
- Maintain 6ft distance at the check-out counter
Thank you for your support as we work together to keep everyone safe. Stay strong #DSM! We are #bettertogether

March 19, 2020
As we continue to receive information regarding COVID-19, we feel it is in the best interest of our staff, volunteers and customers to close our store effective March 20, until further notice.
We are grateful for the continued support of our community. In this time of uncertainty, we look to the strength of each other to carry us through. Let's continue to look for ways we can be Love in Action to our broken world. We look forward to the day we can reopen and enjoy more thrift adventures with you all!

March 16, 2020
In light of the latest Coronavirus (COVID-19) information and for the safety of our staff, customers, and volunteers, Many Hands Thrift Market in Grimes will be implementing changes to our operations, effective immediately on Tuesday, March 17 through Tuesday, March 31. We will re-evaluate for April and make decisions with the information at that time:
We will not be accepting donations at this time.
We will only be accepting credit cards for payment, with the customer handling the card and the transaction process. No cash payments at this time.
We will be shortening our store hours from 10 AM – 5 PM, Monday through Saturday and from 1 PM to 5 PM on Sunday.
The COVID-19 situation is rapidly changing from a public health perspective and we are committed to taking care of our customers, staff, and volunteers during this time.
